You’re invited to hear top experts in severe weather explain the complex inner workings of tornados and severe weather in a presentation at Missouri Southern State University.
The presentation will take place at 7 p.m. on Thursday, March 7 in the Phelps Theatre on the lower floor of Billingsly Student Center at MSSU.
Come hear from leading severe weather researchers Dr. Joshua Wurman, Dr. Karen Kosiba, Dr. Don Burgess, and storm chaser and IMAX film director, Sean Casey, as they explain the complex inner workings of tornados and severe weather.
See the film Tornado Alley , a nail biting adventure that takes viewers on an epic chase through the Midwest. Narrated by Bill Paxton (Twister, Titanic), the film follows Storm Chasers star Sean Casey and the scientists of VORTEX2, the largest tornado-research project ever assembled.
The storm chase team will discuss the dynamics behind tornados and severe weather. After the film, the researchers will take questions from the audience.
Two of the storm-chasing vehicles will be on hand.
The visit is sponsored by Giant Screen Films, the Missouri Mathematics and Science Coalition, the NSF and the Joplin Area Chamber of Commerce.
