Alumni to tour Crystal Bridges

A Missouri Southern State University Alumni Association reception and tours at the Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art in Bentonville, Ark. will take place on Saturday, April 13.

Lee Pound, Director of the MSSU Alumni Association, says this is an outreach event for alumni in northwest Arkansas but all members of the Southern Alumni Association and friends are invited.

A reception will be featured from 2 – 3:30 p.m. Participants can engage in self-guided tours from 3:30 – 5:30 p.m.

Individuals may also view the “American Chronicles: The Art of Norman Rockwell” exhibit currently underway at Crystal Bridges.

One of the most popular American artists of the past century, Norman Rockwell (1894-1978) was a keen observer of human nature and a gifted storyteller.  This traveling exhibition features 50 original paintings and 323 Saturday Evening Post covers that document Rockwell’s engagement in American life in all its glory and tragedy over five decades. The exhibition also includes materials from the Museum’s archives demonstrating how Rockwell worked: proceeding from preliminary sketches, photographs, color studies, and detailed drawings to the finished painting.

There is a $12 fee to view the Rockwell exhibit. Tickets can be purchased directly through Crystal Bridges by telephoning (479) 418-5700.

For reservations, please call 417-659-LION (5466) or email: alumniassoc@mssu.edu
