Students from KGCS-TV and the broadcast program at Missouri Southern State University have received awards from the 2013 Missouri Broadcast Educators Association competition.

The state-wide competition honors students in university broadcast programs throughout Missouri.

Winners from Southern for 2013 include a First-Place award for Video Sports Package to Justin Coale (December graduate in Mass Communications) and Honorable Mention award for Audio Play-by-Play to Justin Coale and Jordan Larimore (May graduate, Mass Communications).

Coale and Larimore provided  live play-by-play for Southern football games this past season and Coale  produced a video package for KGCS-TV.

“We’re glad to have our students recognized in this competition with their peers in the state,” says Judy Stiles, KGCS General Manager.  The Communication program at Southern provides valuable opportunities for hands-on experience in broadcast stations KXMS-FM and KGCS-TV.
