Area television viewers will be able to take a special look at the past with the airing of a film produced in 1973 to celebrate Joplin’s centennial.
KGCS will begin airing the film next week. This film captures Joplin in the 1970’s and includes many scenes from around the city, including the dedication of Northpark Mall and the arrival of Dennis Weaver at the Joplin Airport.
It was shared with KGCS-TV by the Joplin Museum Complex. Prior to the start of the film, Museum Director Brad Belk and KGCS General Manager Judy Stiles will discuss its historical significance and provide background.
Airing times in the next two weeks include:
Sunday, April 21 – 9:30 p.m.
Tuesday, April 23 – 9:30 p.m.
Sunday, April 28 – 6:30 p.m.
Monday, April 29 – 9:30 p.m.
It will repeat at numerous other times in the future on KGCS-TV.
KGCS programming may be seen over the air on digital channel 22 and on regional cable television systems including Cable One, Mediacom, and Suddenlink.
