The 2013 Relay for Life of Joplin, Webb City and Carl Junction will begin at 6 p.m. on Friday, June 7 in Junge Field at 800 Junge Blvd. in the west part of Joplin. The event will last until 6 a.m.

The Opening Ceremony brings everyone together for a high-energy event kickoff to celebrate the lives of those who have battled cancer, to inspire hope by sharing recent accomplishments and progress and to remind everyone that while we are winning this battle, fighting cancer is a year-round priority.

Survivors will take a lap as music plays at 6:30 p.m. and Caregivers will walk a lap at 6:45.  The Luminaria Ceremony, at 9:15 p.m., will provide a time to remember people who have been lost or people who currently fight the disease.  At 12 midnight the Fight Back Ceremony symbolizes the emotional commitment we make to fight cancer  year-round and commit to saving lives.

The Closing Ceremony will be held at 5:45 a.m. The American Cancer Society Relay for Life event is a celebration of survivorship, an occasion to express hope and an expression of a shared goal to end the disease that threatens the
lives of so many people we know.
