KGCS-TV invites viewers to take a step back to 1964, with the presentation of the film, Go Town USA.
The film highlights Joplin at a time when the city was transitioning from a mining community to a regional center.
The film shows city leaders planning for future community development and showcases city residents. The film also includes an interview with St. Louis Cardinals player Stan Musial during a visit to Joplin.
A short lead-in features KGCS-TV General Manager Judy Stiles and Joplin Museum Complex Director Brad Belk discussing the historical significance of the film.
“We’re proud to be able to work with the Museum Complex in sharing this film with the Joplin community.” Stiles says. “It is a unique look at Joplin nearly 50 years ago.”
