Whitney Gaskell, Bentonville, Ark., senior English Education major at Missouri Southern State University, has received the ETS Recognition of Excellence (ROE) for her score of 192 on the English Praxis.
The ETS Recognition of Excellence (ROE) Award honors test takers who achieve exceptional individual performance on selected Praxis II® tests. It is awarded to test takers who meet or exceed the ROE target score determined by the top 15 percent of candidates who took the test in previous years. The ROE Award is an incentive to encourage the development of highly qualified teachers.
There are eight Praxis II tests for which test takers can earn an ROE. They include Elementary Education; English Language, Literature and Composition , Mathematics, Social Studies, Biology, Chemistry, Physics and General Science. These tests are required by state departments of education and by colleges and universities to measure the academic achievement and proficiency of individuals entering or completing teacher preparation programs.
The Praxis Series tests are currently required for teacher licensure in approximately 40 states and U.S. territories
