“Welcome Week” will take place at Missouri Southern State University Aug. 18-23. Sponsored by a variety of campus offices, the week includes a selection of events to welcome students to the MSSU campus.

The activities, free to students, include the following:

Sunday, Aug.18: Campus Craze, 6-8 p.m.on the Oval. Featuring a live DJ, free food, and information from various MSSU campus organizations.

Monday, Aug. 19: All Campus Picnic, 10:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. on the Oval. Enjoy free food, fun, music & more! Free for students, faculty and staff with university I.D. Be sure to be there at noon for the dedication and unveiling of the new Lion Pride Plaza — Rain site: Lion’s Den, Billingsly Student Center.

Tuesday, Aug. 20: Wet-N-Wild Water Battle, 6 p.m. – 9 p.m. on the Oval. Put on your swim suits and come on out to the Oval for the water battle to end all water battles.

Wednesday, Aug. 21: Welcome Week – Community Day, 10:30 a.m. -1:30 p.m. on the Oval. Sample the products of local businesses.  This is also a great chance to look for a part time job or a volunteering opportunity around Joplin. There are over 100 businesses and non-profits scheduled to be in attendance this year. — Rain site: Beimdiek Recreation Center

The Hangover Part III, 2:30 p.m. in Phelps Theater. Relax after your first few days of class. Grab some free candy and watch a movie with friends. (Rated “R.”)

Thursday, Aug. 22: Welcome Week – Campus Involvement Day, 10:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. on the Oval. Registered student organizations show what campus clubs have to offer.  — Rain site: Billingsly Student Center

The Hangover Part III, 8 p.m. in Phelps Theater. Relax after your first few days of class. Grab some free candy and watch a movie with friends. — Rain site: Phelps Theater (Rated “R.”)

Friday, Aug. 23: Survivor Night, 7-10 p.m., on the Oval. Students may enjoy a variety of carnival style games complete with carnival style prizes. Also, enjoy the live DJ and free food to celebrate the conclusion of a successful first week of classes.
