More than 250 Girl Scouts will gather for Cookie University from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 4, at the Plaster Free Enterprise Center at Missouri Southern State University.
The workshop is designed to hone sales and customer service skills prior to the kick-off of the 2014 cookie sale. The Girl Scouts have partnered with Missouri Southern Business Students to design a program to help girls earn their 2014 cookie pin, and financial and sales badges. Activities will include counting money and setting up online marketing tools.
It will be followed at 3 p.m. by the annual Cookie Crunch-Off. The competitive cookie eating contest will feature teams from Mars Petcare, Navy Recruiters, Walmart, General Mills, The Joplin Globe, KOAM-TV and Big Dog. Girls will also be able to sample the Cranberry Citrus Crisps, which are new to the cookie lineup this year.
