Recreational Services is offering Commit to Get Fit, a free faculty/staff fitness class. Taught by two certified personal trainers, the goal of the class is to help you achieve fitness goals, make exercise more fun and develop your own workout plan.
“Last year, we did a couch to 5k class,” said Steven Benfield, director of campus recreation. “We had good success with that but we wanted to figure out a way to be the most beneficial to the most people and give them the tools they need to get into shape.”
Commit to Get Fit is designed for all fitness levels and abilities. An orientation will be held at noon on Tuesday, June 3, in Phelps Theater.
“The class will be a bit basic until we find out what everyone’s goals are, then we’ll get more specific,” said Jason Davis, one of the personal trainers who will be leading the class. “We’ll be doing strength training, cardio and stretching, and there will be a question and answer time where you can ask about anything, all the way to diet questions.”
Each class will be 45 to 50 minutes long and will meet at noon every Monday through Thursday in the recreation center.
Davis said that participants will track their progress and there will be prizes for those who make the most improvement.
Those who are not members of the Beimdiek Recreation Center are also invited to attend. The class will meet at noon each Monday through Thursday in the recreation center.
