The Southwest Missouri Area Health Education Center will host MASH Camp 2014 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. July 23-24 at Missouri Southern State University.

The health and science camp is for students in the sixth, seventh, eighth and ninth grades. Participants will learn about science in the medical field and various health careers, and participate in hands-on experiments and lab activities.

The cost is $20 per student, which includes lunch and camp shirts.

Registration can be completed online through July 11 at www.ahec.missouristate.edu/joplin.

The Southwest Missouri Area Health Education Center is located in Springfield but also operates an office in Joplin.

“The Area Health Education Center offers services to middle- and high-school students as well as undergraduates,” said Lindsey Bobbitt, health programs coordinator. “For middle-school, it’s in the capacity of MASH camps. For high-school students, we offer academic programs for those who want to go into a health care field. Our Springfield office coordinates medical school rotations at the hospital.”
