The head consul of Mexico visited Missouri Southern on Wednesday, May 14, for a tour of the campus and an informal discussion on potential collaborations.

Alicia Kerber – with the Consulado de México-Kansas City – arrived for lunch, followed by a tour and then a meeting with campus officials.

will arrive for lunch at 12:30 p.m., followed by a campus tour at 1:30 p.m. and a visit with campus officials at 2:30 p.m.

“A few of us went to visit with her in Kansas City in December,” said Dr. Chad Stebbins, director of the Institute of International Studies. “We encouraged her to come to visit Missouri Southern.”

Stebbins said that while nothing concrete came out of the meeting, talks did include looking for ways for Mexican students to attend Missouri Southern and finding a partner university in Mexico.

“They toured the Health Sciences Building and Billingsly Student Center,” he said. “I think they were very impressed with what they saw.”
