Veterans Week will be observed Nov. 8-15 at Missouri Southern State University. Sponsored by the Show Me GOLD program, the Student Veterans Organization, MSSU Athletics and the Campus Activities Board, a variety of events are planned to celebrate and support U.S. veterans.

SATURDAY, NOV. 8

Run with the Heroes 5K: 9 a.m., Flag of Freedom Plaza on the campus Oval. Registration will begin at 7:30 a.m. Cost is $15; free for veterans. First 200 to register receive T-shirts. Those who place in each division will receive a Veterans Week Military Challenge Coin. Raffle/Show Me GOLD booth: 8:30 a.m. A 2014 Taotao 49cc scooter, bright orange in color, will be raffled off. Tickets are one for $3; two for $5; four for $10; eight for $20; and 20 for $50.

SUNDAY, NOV. 9

THURSDAY, NOV. 13

Veterans luncheon: noon, Ballroom in Billingsly Student Center. The Student Veterans Organization and Show Me GOLD will host a free luncheon for all students, faculty and staff members and their spouses who have served in the Armed Forces.

FRIDAY, NOV. 14

CrossFit competition: 4 p.m., Beimdiek Recreation Center in Billingsly Student Center. Participate in a workout designed and judged by MOMO CrossFit. Those who place will receive a Veterans Week Military Challenge Coin. Entry is $10. Register at the event, by calling Capt. SATURDAY, NOV. 15

Military Appreciation Football Game: 1 p.m., Fred G. Hughes Stadium. Those with a military ID will receive free admission to the MSSU vs. Missouri Western game. Pre-game events will include a military vehicle display and a raffle booth. A short veterans recognition ceremony will be held at halftime.
