Two upcoming performances will feature the Southern Jazz Combos from Missouri Southern State University.

The Southern Jazz Combos will perform on Nov. 13 in Corley Auditorium and Nov. 14 at Gusano's.

The three student combos will perform at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 13, in Corley Auditorium. The performance will include a variety of selections from the jazz idiom including “Bag’s Groove,” “Minority,” “Night in Tunisia,” “Footprints,” “My Funny Valentine, “Memories of Tomorrow” and other jazz standards. Vocalist Brooke Henry will perform with the groups.

The Southern Jazz Combos will also perform at 6 p.m. Friday, Nov. 14, at Gusano’s Pizza, 3929 E. Seventh St.

“This is an opportunity for people in the community to listen to our jazz combos in a more relaxed atmosphere,” said Dr. Phillip Wise, director of jazz studies. “I encourage folks to come out to relax and enjoy a pizza and listen to some jazz.”

Both performances are free and open to the public; however, advanced reservations are encouraged for Gusano’s at 417-623-9090. Be sure to request seating near the groups.
