Robin Douglas, Missouri Southern’s Distance Testing supervisor, has been recognized as Outstanding University Experience 100 instructor for Fall 2014. Eli Moran, a junior biology major, was named Outstanding University Experience 100 Course Assistant.
Nominations for the awards were collected in November. They could be submitted by UE instructors, course assistants and students.
One of the nominations said that Douglas “shows a genuine concern in her students’ academic lives, she gives us every opportunity to be successful and she makes sure that we are always up to date on what’s going on in class.” Another praised her for encouraging her students to stay up to date with the news and reminding them “that we can make changes not only in our own lives but in other people’s as well.”
Moran was cited in a nomination for the “dedication and hard work he put into making sure we knew what we were doing.”
Douglas said that she was “happy and humbled” that she and Moran were recognized.
“I think that everyone who teaches University Experience does a really good job, and I think the program is important to the university,” she said.
Each received a $50 gift certificate to the MSSU Bookstore and a plaque.
