Joplin, MO (SNS) – From a free screening of one of this year’s Best Picture contenders to business seminars and Gift Card Bingo, a number of events will be offered next week at Missouri Southern State University.

MONDAY, FEB. 16

 K-12 Art Show: Spiva Art Gallery. The fourth annual show features artwork by students from throughout Southwest Missouri. The exhibit will run through Friday, Feb. 27. Gallery hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.

 ACT Residual Exam: 12:30 t0 4:30 p.m., Room 311 in Hearnes Hall. The Residual ACT test is available only to MSSU students and prospective students. The test fee of $45 is paid at the cashier’s window (Hearnes Hall 105) and a copy of the receipt is presented to the ACTS office (Hearnes Hall 314). Details and scheduling: 417-625-9324.

 TUESDAY, FEB. 17

 “Is QuickBooks Right for My Business?”: 2:30 to 4:30 p.m., Plaster Hall. What are the features of QuickBooks? How does QuickBooks handle customer (sales) account transactions and balances? THURSDAY, FEB. 19

 Health Hut: 11 a.m. t0 1:30 p.m., Lion’s Den in Billingsly Student Center. The Wellness Department will offer free giveaways during the weekly event.

Gift Card Bingo: 12:20 p.m., Lion’s Den. Students will be able to win gift cards to restaurants during this event presented by the Campus Activities Board (CAB). Students must have their student ID to play.

“The Theory of Everything”: 2:30 and 6:30 p.m., Phelps Theatre in Billingsly Student Center. The Oscar-nominated film follows the early life of theoretical physicist Stephen Hawking. Presented by CAB, admission is free.

“Where Will Your Business Be in 2018?”: 1:30 to 4:30 p.m., Room 107 in Plaster Hall. This extremely hands-on interactive training event will help you identify where your business is at today and develop your vision for where you want your business to be in three years. Special attention is placed on management, marketing, finance, technology and operations. A participant workbook will be provided. The cost is $59. Details: 417-625-3128.

FRIDAY, FEB. 20

 Business Discovery Day: 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Cornell Auditorium in Plaster Hall. Prospective students can tour Robert W. Plaster School of Business and explore the wide range of majors, minors and certifications available to prepare them for global leadership roles in the complex business environment of the future. Admission is free.

 Career Services Walk-In Workshop: 12 to 2 p.m., Career Services office, second floor of Spiva Library. Stop by the workshop for career and resume advice, assistance creating or editing your resume, assistance researching careers or information on job shadowing and internships. All services and printing are available free of charge; no appointment is needed.

Baseball: 1 p.m., new baseball stadium. Support the Lions as they play Pittsburg State University.
