“The Great Game of Business” by Jack Stack is the spring pick for the Literary Lions Book Club.
The book introduces Stack’s open-book management philosophy. Stack took over Springfield Remanufacturing Corporation the early 1980s and used the techniques to turn it around. The key involves applying the principals of athletic competition and democracy – to keep score, have fun, play fair and give everyone a voice in financial decisions.
The club’s first meeting will be at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, April 9. Dr. Scott Cragin will offer and introduction and background on the book and author.
A group discussion will be held at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, April 23, led by Dr. Wendy McGrane, library director.
Dr. Alan Marble will discuss using these techniques in a higher-education setting at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, April 30.
All meetings will be held in Spiva Library, near the University Java coffee shop.
Cost is $25, or $15 if you are a member of Friends of the Spiva Library. Please RSVP by March 26 by calling the Alumni Office at 625-9355.
