Joplin, MO (SNS) – Fifteen students were inducted into the Golden Crest Circle of Omicron Delta Kappa during an informal ceremony held Monday, March 9, at Missouri Southern State University.

Selection to ODK, the National Leadership Honor Society, is based on scholarship, outstanding leadership and exemplary character. The society recognizes achievement in the following areas: scholarship; athletics; campus/community service, social/religious activities and campus government; journalism, speech and mass media; and creative and performing arts.

The following students were inducted into the honor society during the ceremony:

Omicron Delta Kappa was founded Dec. 3, 1914, at Washington and Lee University in Lexington, Va., by 15 student and faculty leaders. It was the first college honor society of a national scope to give recognition and honor for meritorious leadership and service in extracurricular activities and to encourage development of general campus citizenship. Since its founding, more than 300,000 members have been inducted into ODK. The Golden Crest Circle has inducted more than 800 members since its founding in 1987.
