Joplin, MO (SNS) – Athletes involved in women’s sports at Missouri Southern State University will present a check for more than $10,000 to the Freeman Foundation during the Athletics Awards Banquet at 6 p.m. Monday, May 4, in Billingsly Student Center’s Connor Ballroom.
Throughout the last school year, athletes have sold pink T-shirts and auctioned off jerseys to raise funds for the Pride for Pink campaign. The goal of the yearlong campaign was to help raise awareness of breast cancer by promoting preventive and educational material through sponsored events, and raise money for local organizations that work to support the breast cancer efforts.
“They’ve always raised money for this campaign, but never this significant of an amount,” said Randon Coffey, director of athletic marketing.
The total amount raised will be announced during the banquet. Dr. Richard Schooler will be on hand to receive the check on behalf of Freeman Health System.
