Joplin, MO (SNS) – KXMS Radio will focus on the sonnets by William Shakespeare in the ongoing short feature “Sonnets by Shakespeare,” to debut on the anniversary of the Bard’s birth (and death), Thursday, April 23.

The program will debut during the 5 p.m. hour of “Southern Serenade.” The program will be given over entirely to the music and words of Shakespeare’s world.

Produced by 88.7KXMS/Fine Arts Radio International, Duane Hunt, retired professor of theater studies, and his wife, Gwen Hunt, retired MSSU director of Public Information, will lend their vocal talents and acting skills to bring to life these 14-line sachets of remarkable poetry. Each sonnet, individually presented with introductory comments by KXMS’s Jeff Skibbe, will give the listener some idea of the philosophy and feelings of William Shakespeare, who utilized one of the largest vocabularies in the history of world literature.
