Joplin, MO (SNS) – An articulation agreement between the honors programs at Missouri Southern State University and Northwest Arkansas Community College will be signed at 9 a.m. Thursday, May 7, in Billingsly Student Center’s Connor Ballroom.

Dr. Michael Howarth, director of the Honors Program at Missouri Southern, will be joined by Sabrina Chesne, director of the Bentonville, Ark., college’s Honors Program. The agreement will simplify the transition process for students at the two-year college to the four-year university.

Honors Program courses at the two schools will be compatible, allowing students to enroll in challenging courses that will count toward their degree requirements. The agreement will go into effect for the Fall 2015 semester.

“In addition to easing the transfer process and ensuring that students do not earn credits they will not need, this articulation agreement saves students time and money,” said Howarth. “I look forward to working further with NWACC’s Honors Program as we share ideas about courses, activities and requirements, as well as to admitting strong students who have already completed half of their honors coursework and who understand the effort and dedication I takes to succeed in the program.”
