Tiffany Nicole Gilford, a recent graduate of Neosho High School, received the $5,000 Golden Lion Award scholarship during an awards banquet held June 22 at Missouri Southern.
Co-sponsored by KSNF/KODE and Beimdiek Insurance, the annual awards pay tribute to the time, talent and efforts that local students have given to better their communities through volunteer work. The event marked the second year for the program.
In addition to Gilford, students recognized during the ceremony were Kergan Chappel, Carl Junction; Carly Greer, Nevada; Samantha White, Webb City; Cameron B. Koehler, Cassville; Kennedy Thomas, Carl Junction; Chelsey Henry, Neosho; and Karin Hoffman, Seneca. Each of the seven received scholarships in the amount of $1,000.
Students were recognized following a brief video presentation highlighting their volunteer work.
Gilford, the daughter of Steven and Della Gilford, has served as a volunteer with Pilots – a freshman orientation day for Neosho High School students. She has also given her time to Bright Futures, Key Club, Student Council and Special Olympics.
She will begin pre-nursing coursework at Missouri Southern as a freshman this fall.
