The Southern Wind Ensemble will present their fall concert at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 16, in Taylor Performing Arts Center.
Under the direction of Dr. Rick Espinosa, the student performance group will feature a mix of old and new selections.
“We’ll be starting out with a modern fanfare, and there will be a Spanish pasodoble in support of the university’s Spain Semester,” said Espinosa. “We’ll also perform one of the first pieces for modern wind ensembles, and a modern composition.
“The concert will be very tonal and accessible to the audience.”
The wind ensemble is the selective, flagship ensemble at Missouri Southern. Qualified music majors and non-majors audition at the beginning of each semester. The ensemble currently has approximately 50 students.
The performance is free and open to the public.
