Joplin, MO (SNS) – A series of programs designed to help residents and business owners create a disaster plan will be offered by the City of Joplin, the Joplin Area Chamber of Commerce, Missouri Southern State University and the St. Bernard Project.
The St. Bernard Project (SBP) partnered with Rebuild Joplin to repair homes for more than 180 families following the 2011 tornado.
Topics to be addressed include making an emergency plan, documents needed after a disaster, how to file an insurance claim, what questions to ask insurance agents to ensure adequate coverage, and things to do to prevent or reduce property damage. The business training will also cover how to put together a business continuity plan.
The training will be presented by Charlie Martel, SBP’s director of disaster resilience and recovery lab, and Autumn Lotze, SBP disaster specialist.
Training for small to mid-size businesses will be offered at:
Tuesday, Feb. 2: 10 to 11 a.m., Joplin City Hall, 602 S. Main St. Free of charge.
