The Game Plan: 50 Shades of GGOE

Well, hello there. Chocolates? Really, you shouldn’t have.

Come in; make yourself comfortable while we pour a glass of bubbly, dim the lights and put on that Michael Bolton album you love so much.

It’s the week of Valentine’s Day, so what better time to have a discussion about taking our relationship to the next level. Like any serious relationship, the success of the Great Game depends on mutual commitment and two-way communication.

As you know, Missouri Southern will experience a $2.2 million budget reduction in fiscal year 2018, following an announcement last month that the university would lose $1.7 by the end of FY 2017. State funding has decreased to an all-time low of 31 percent of our operating budget.

This underscores the importance of the Great Game to Missouri Southern – giving everyone on our campus the knowledge they need to help us create a more sustainable future.

Last semester, we were thrilled to reach our goal of 80 percent participating in our first campus-wide minigame! Now that’s commitment! Discussions are underway for the next minigame, so stay tuned.

Don’t forget that you can view the University Scoreboard any time – and see how your department fits into the big picture – at https://sungard05.mssu.edu:8083/mosogreatgame/start.

Communication is also key to making this relationship work. As mentioned before, training is available on Blackboard, and Finance Part 3 will be ready soon. You can log in by clicking here.

We’re also hard at work on creating the communication structure which will allow us to create a positive back-and-forth exchange of information across campus, as well as an online discussion board. Being able to have this open dialogue about where we are and where we need to be is so important.

Thank you for what you do each and every day, and for your commitment to moving this institution forward. It truly is a labor of love.
