Hopkins, Thompson present at national FYE conference

Strategies developed at Missouri Southern to help freshmen adjust to college life were showcased during the 36th annual First-Year Experience Conference, held Feb. 11-14 in Atlanta, Ga.

Teresa Thompson, director of the First-Year Experience Program, and Stephanie Hopkins, director of the Student Success Center, presented “Roary’s Declassified Survival Guide to Help Freshmen Adjust.” The interactive presentation allowed participants to create a list of survival tips tailored to freshmen at their own schools.

“We were honored to be chosen to present at the national level about a topic we feel passionate about,” said Thompson.

The annual conference provides a forum for higher-education professionals to “share experiences, concerns and accomplishments related to supporting student learning, development and success in the first college year.”
