Due to continued campus construction, the location for the annual Southern Lights event has been changed.
Sponsored by the Campus Activities Board, Southern Lights will be held from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 1, at the Mayes Student Life Center, located directly behind the McCormick and Blaine residence halls. The event is open to students, faculty, staff and their guests.
“Because of COVID, we didn’t have the normal celebration last year,” said Craig Gullett, director of student activities. “The members of CAB are excited to bring it back. We have several freshmen on board who haven’t experienced it before.”
Activities will begin with Dr. Dean and Mary Van Galen lighting the tree outside of the student center. Afterward, carriage rides will be offered and there will be crafts, a photo booth and more. Students who signed up to participate in the Angel Tree program will be able to pick up their gifts at that time, Gullett said.
