An opening reception for the Italy Semester Photo Exhibition will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. tonight, Friday, Aug. 23, in the newly remodeled Spiva Art Gallery on campus.
“Un.It Unescoitalia: The World Heritage Sites in the Work of 14 Photographers” opened on Thursday, Aug. 22 and will be on display from 8 a.m.-5 p.m., Monday through Friday and from 1 -5 p.m. on Saturday at the Spiva Art Gallery at MSSU. Admission is free.
The Italian Ministry for Cultural Heritage and Activities in collaboration with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs presents the exhibition highlighting historic cities, monuments, works of art, sculpture, and landscapes located in Italy UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Taken by some of the most notable Italian contemporary photographers, the travelling exhibition comprises more than 150 photographs taken by 14 artists considered to be some of the best contemporary Italian photographers.
After the exhibition leaves MSSU on Sept. 6, it will go to Reno (http://arteitaliausa.org/blog/art/unesco.html) and then San Francisco (http://museoitaloamericano.org/category/exhibits-collections/upcoming-exhibition/).
Andrea Raos, Deputy Attaché for Cultural Affairs at the Istituto Italiano di Cultura in Chicago, is coming to MSSU for the opening reception Friday evening.
