Kristen Hanna, a junior mass communication major at Missouri Southern, was recently awarded a scholarship by the Missouri Broadcasters Association Foundation during its annual convention in Branson.
Hanna – who received a $1,500 scholarship – was one of nine Missouri students honored during the convention, held on June 6.
Broadcast students submitted applications to one of their local radio or television stations and the stations then submitted their top choice to the foundation. Scholarship applicants must be a full-time student enrolled or planning to enroll in a broadcast or related curriculum, which provides training and expertise applicable to a broadcast operation and have a GPA of at least 3.0 on a 4.0 scale, or equivalent.
Hanna, of St. Louis, was sponsored by KGCS-TV. The station operates as a service of the Department of Communication at Missouri Southern.
