Signage has gone up around campus informing students, employees and campus visitors that Missouri Southern is now tobacco, vapor and smoke-free.
The policy covers traditional and electronic cigarettes as well as pipes, smokeless tobacco and other products, prohibiting them from use on campus grounds.
It was originally proposed by the Student Senate in 2014 and was approved last fall by the Board of Governors.
“We’re trying to get the word out, educate people and give them a chance to complete a smoking or tobacco cessation program,” said Heather Arnold, wellness director.
A group cessation program – free to all Missouri Southern students and employees – will be offered from 12:30 to 1 p.m. each Wednesday starting April 6 in the Willcoxon Health Center. Free cessation products will be available.
