The Missouri Southern State University Mock Trial Team is one of only seven teams in the region to move on to the American Mock Trial Association (AMTA) Regional Tournament’s championship series.

The team looks forward to representing Missouri Southern at the Opening Round in the Championship Series against St Louis University March 14-17.

The team earned the right to move forward at the AMTA Regional Tournament in Kansas City Friday Feb. 8-9.

Students on the ranking team were: Johnathan Saunders, Jessica Andrews, Anna Sanderson, Mary Duncan, Laura Barr and Laurna Alumbaugh.

Litigating as both Plaintiff and Defense, students took on the roles of attorneys and witnesses in competition.

MSSU students also received the three top ranks/awards for witnesses in the entire tournament resulting in a collective “All-Region” award for the university.

Competing on this team were: Tristan Rutledge, Taylor Haas, Johnny Boyer, Susan Gantt, Brenna Barksdale and Keegan Tinney.

In a tie for top rank were Susan Gantt and Jessica Andrews, followed closely by Tristan Routledge.

Johnathan Saunders brought home another award for his work as a defense attorney.
