Kansas City, Mo. – Missouri Southern junior right fielder Shelby Romines was named the MIAA softball player of the week, announced by the conference office today.
Helping lead the Lions to a 5-1 record on the weekend and get off to their best start since 2001, Romines had a fantastic weekend at the plate hitting .500 going 10-20 with 4 home runs, a double, 10 RBI’s while scoring nine runs. The Ozark, Mo. native slugged 1.150, and had a .600 on-base percentage while drawing five walks and totaling 23 bases. She had great success in Sunday’s final two games vs. Ouachita Baptist and Southern Nazarene combing to go 6-6 with two home runs, four RBI’s, scoring four runs and drew four walks.
Through ten ten games this year, she is hitting .486 (17-35) with five home runs, four doubles, a triple, 16 RBI’s while scoring 12 runs and totaling 38 bases. She is slugging 1.086 and has an on-base percentage of .561 and a fielding percentage of 1.000.
The Lions return to action Friday competing at the Central Oklahoma Softball Classic against Oklahoma Christian at 10 a.m. and Cameron (Okla.) at 12:15 p.m.
