Joplin, Mo. — The Missouri Southern football team will play six games at home next season as the Lions have released their 2013 schedule.

Southern will also play two games on TV as the MIAA announced the Lions’ games at Northeastern State on Sept. 14 and at home against Lincoln on Sept. 21 will be part of the league’s TV package.

The Lions will open up the season at home on Thursday, Sept. 5 against Central Oklahoma at 6 pm in Fred G. Hughes Stadium. They will travel to NSU on Sept. 14, before coming back home to face Lincoln on Sept. 21 for the annual Hall of Fame game.

Southern will then head to Southwest Baptist on Sept. 28, before facing off with Central Missouri at home on Oct. 5. The Lions will travel to South Dakota Mines on Oct. 12 for one of two non-conference games on the schedule this season. Missouri Western will come to town on Oct. 19, while the Lions will travel to Northwest Missouri on Oct. 26.

Homecoming 2013 will be on November 2 against Lindenwood and it will be a 2 pm kickoff. Southern will play host to NAIA Lindenwood-Belleville on Nov. 9 for the home finale and Senior Day and the Lions will conclude the regular season with the Sonic Miners Bowl in Pittsburg against PSU on Nov. 16.
