The graduation for the Super Leader program will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 4 at the Independent Living Center, 2639 E. 34th St. in Joplin.
Super Leaders, a joint effort between Missouri Southern State University (MSSU) and the Joplin Area Chamber of Commerce Young Professionals Network (JACC YPN) was created to help current MSSU students connect with the Joplin Community
Eleven Missouri Southern State University students are nearing the end of a semester of leadership development, career exploration, and community awareness activities, as part of the second group of Super Leaders.
According to Nicole Brown, Director of MSSU Career Services, the program was started to address the “brain drain” issue nearly all communities are experiencing.
The program is designed to educate, inspire, and connect MSSU students with the local community
“We have really talented students attending MSSU and we wanted to find a way for them to see the many great opportunities Joplin has to offer,” Brown says. “We want them to see the opportunities available, fall in love with Joplin, become young professionals, and help Joplin grow.”
The program is loosely based on Leadership Joplin and is sponsored by the MSSU Student Affairs Office.
