Dr. Marble, who recently retired as president of Crowder College, will come to Missouri Southern as Special Assistant to the President. He will begin his new duties July 1.
“With his long experience in higher education administration and his intricate knowledge of the needs of students, we knew Dr. Marble would be a great fit at MSSU,” said President Speck. “We’re looking forward to welcoming Dr. Marble to our team and working with him to continue the growth of Missouri Southern.”
In his new role, Marble will focus on a variety of special projects, including developing relationships with area community colleges.
Dr. Marble earned a bachelor’s degree from Missouri Southern in 1979 and a master’s degree from Pittsburg State University in 1986, both in psychology. He earned a doctorate in higher education administration with an emphasis in finance from the University of Nebraska in 2006.
Before beginning his tenure as President of Crowder College in 2006, Dr. Marble served the school in a variety of capacities including Business Manager and Dean of Development.
Prior to his career in higher education, Marble owned and operated a testing and placement service that worked with many leading insurance companies nationwide to assist injured claimants in their efforts to become retrained and employable. He sold the company in 1986 to begin his career in higher education.
Dr. Marble has won numerous awards for his private industry work as well as his efforts in higher education.
“After 27 years at Crowder College, it is difficult to say goodbye,” Dr. Marble said. “But I’m looking forward to this next step at Missouri Southern, and I’m excited to see how the schools can continue to collaborate for the betterment of students across the region.”
