wilsonJoplin, Mo. — Missouri Southern senior shortstop Thomas Wilson has been named to the Capitol One/College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-America Team as announced by the organization today.

Wilson, a native of Wonder Lake, Ill., helped the Lions to the 2013 MIAA Baseball Tournament Championship this season and played every inning of every game at shortstop. He was a third-team Academic All-America selection.

To be named to this honor, an individual must maintain a cumulative 3.30 GPA and first be named to their respective Academic All-District team. Wilson and teammate Will Wagner were both named Academic All-District.

Wilson maintains a 3.67 GPA in psychology and this season he hit .304 with a homer run and 25 RBIs. He helped the Lions to tie the school record for fielding percentage (.962) after helping the team break the mark in 2012. Southern made its first NCAA Division II Regional Tournament this year since the 2001 season.
