Joplin, Mo. – The Missouri Southern Athletic Department presented checks to two different cancer research funds as part of the department’s annual pink games and other donation efforts.
Missouri Southern Director of Athletics Jared Bruggeman presented checks to both Ted Easley of the American Cancer Society, as well as Kim Sanders from the Hope 4 You Breast Cancer Foundation totaling more than $1,000.
This year, the Lions hosted pink games in the sports of Volleyball, Women’s Basketball and Softball. Each team had pink jerseys and the facilities were decked out in pink to help bring about awareness for cancer research. The volleyball and women’s basketball teams auctioned off their jerseys, while the softball team sold autographed team posters, with all funds going toward the fund.
“It is one of the best things you can do in life by helping to give back to a cause or the community you live in,” Bruggeman said. “I want to thank everyone on the staff here at Missouri Southern, as well as our student-athletes, who helped to put on all of these events this year and allow us to give back.”
