Lion Pride Weekend is designed for all new MSSU students and their families. The weekend is packed with activities to help you meet new friends and learn what it means to be a LION!
Lion Pride Weekend starts on Friday, August 16 and doesn’t stop until Sunday evening!
The week is capped from 2-3 p.m. on Sunday, August 18 with the First Year Student Convocation in Taylor Performing Arts Center.
Following is the schedule of events for 2013 Lion Pride Weekend:
Friday, August 16
Three-on-Three Basketball and Volleyball Tournaments, Beimdiek Recreation Center Basketball Courts, 10 a,m.-Noon Join us in the Beimdiek Recreation Center for a three on three basketball tournament and volleyball tournament. If you have a team, bring it! If not, we’ll find you one. Prizes will be awarded to the winning team.
Free Fitness Classes, Beimdiek Recreation Center Fitness Room, 10 a.m.-Noon Get your day off to a good start with a great workout! Our personal trainers will lead two fitness classes. Choose one or stay for both!
* Zumba Lesson, 10 – 11 a.m. * Yoga/Pilates Lesson,11 a.m.-Noon
Kick-Off Cookout, MSSU Oval, 4:30-6:30 p.m. Come enjoy great food and great company! The Kick-Off Cookout is free to new MSSU students. Family and guests are $5 each.
Ultimate Water Slide, MSSU Oval, 5-9 p.m. Whether you’re fully clothed or wearing your swimsuit, come cool off on our GIANT slip and slide!
Outdoor Movie, MSSU Oval, 9 p.m.-Midnight Bring a lawn chair or blanket and enjoy a movie under the stars. Refreshments will be served.
Saturday, August 17
Dodgeball Tournament, Beimdiek Recreation Center Basketball Courts, 2-4 p.m. Join us in the Beimdiek Recreation Center for a dodgeball tournament. If you have a team, bring it! If not, we’ll find you one. Prizes will be awarded to the winning team.
Speed Meeting, BSC Lion’s Den, 7 -9 p.m. Do you want to get to know a lot of people fast? Come to the Lion’s Den in Billingsly Student Center for a round of Speed Meeting. Refreshments will be served.
Lion Bingo, Beimdiek Recreation Center Phelps Theater, 6 -8 p.m. You know how to play, so come play to win MSSU gear and CASH!
Toga Dance Party, MSSU Oval, 9 p.m.-Midnight Toga parties are a college tradition. Join us on the Oval for a Toga Dance Party. We will provide togas for the first 100 guests. Refreshments will be served.
Sunday, August 18
First-Year Student Convocation, Taylor Performing Arts Center, 2-3 p.m. The First-Year Student Convocation is a ceremony designed to officially welcome new students and parents to the MSSU family. You’ll meet the President of MSSU as well as Deans, Department Heads, Alumni, and Course Assistants. You’ll also learn a few of our campus traditions! Parents, bring your cameras for the Medallion Ceremony. Dress is business-casual.
Campus Craze, MSSU Oval, 6 -8 p.m. A long-standing tradition at MSSU, Campus Craze is the final party before classes start on Monday. Campus Craze is held on the Oval and features live music, free food, photos with the MSSU Lion, and fantastic door prizes.

Additional Information Dress for all Lion Pride Weekend events is casual (except for the First-Year Student Convocation). Parents and family members are welcome to participate in all Lion Pride Weekend Events.
