phillips-bobKGCS-TV is proud to begin airing a new 30-minute program showcasing the work of former KODE Newsman Bob Phillips (1931-2010). The program will be called, “The Phillips Files.”

“Join us as we step back in time to take a look at the 4 State area through Bob’s eyes,” says Judy Stiles, KGCS-TV General Manager.

“The Phillips Files” is a collection of Bob’s news features that were produced and aired on KODE from 1983 to 1999. There are over 450 of these Phillips File reports. Stiles says the show’s archives were kept on ¾ inch broadcast tapes, which were the standard of the industry at that time.

With the help of Bob’s photographer, Darin McCann, and friend Ted Easley, KGCS-TV has acquired the tapes, and has taken considerable time and effort to convert them to a digital format so they can be enjoyed again.

The program will premiere on at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday Sept. 8, with repeats on Wednesday at 6:30 p.m.   KGCS programming may be seen over the air on digital channel 22 and on regional cable systems including Cable One, Mediacom and Suddenlink.
