Osage Beach, Mo. — The Missouri Southern golf team finished 11th today in its first fall tournament of the year, as the Lions competed in the 2013 Missouri Collegiate played at the Club at Porto Cima.
Freshman Taylor Lansford was the low scorer for the tournament for the Lions as the Tulsa native improved by eight strokes from round one to two (83 to 75) and finished with a 75 today to tie for 18th individually.
Sophomore Ethan Hutcheson shot a 236 for the tournament and finished 30th individually, while sophomores Garrett Roberts (248) and Ben Starkey (250) finished tied for 57th and 62nd, respectively. Sophomore Skyler Arbuckle shot a 262 for the three rounds.
William Woods won the team title finishing 11 strokes ahead of second-place Central Missouri. Drury was third, while Lincoln was fourth and William Jewell placed fifth. Missouri Western was sixth, followed by Rockhurst, Hannibal-LaGrange, Pittsburg State, Columbia College, Southern, Evangel, Missouri Baptist and Southwest Baptist to round out the team scores.
The Lions will be back in action next Monday when Southern travels to Kearney, Nebraska to compete in the Nebraska-Kearney Invite. It will be the first MIAA points event of the season.
