Kansas City, Mo. — The Missouri Southern women’s track and field team has been picked to finish second in the preseason MIAA Indoor Track and Field Coaches Poll, the league announced today.

The Lions received one first-place vote and trailed first-place Lincoln by 15 points. The team returns All-Americans in both Amber White and Kaylee Morgan from last year’s indoor squad that placed second in the MIAA Indoor Track and Field Championships. Morgan was an All-American in the long jump, while White earned All-American status in the 400m. amber_white-will-lap

Defending champion Lincoln was picked to repeat, while Southern, Central Missouri, Pittsburg State and Nebraska-Kearney round out the top five teams. Southwest Baptist was picked sixth, followed by Emporia State, Northwest Missouri, Fort Hays State, Lindenwood and Central Oklahoma to round out the poll.

The Lions will open up the indoor season on December 6, as Southern plays host to the MSSU Invite inside the Leggett & Platt Athletic Center.
