The recipients of the Ruth I. Kolpin Broadcast Scholarship were announced during a Communication Department awards program held April 8 at Missouri Southern State University.

The Kolpin Scholarship in named in honor of Ruth Kolpin-Rubison. It is presented annually to broadcast students at Missouri Southern who meet the criteria, including majoring in broadcast communication with junior or senior status in the upcoming Fall semester, enrolled as a full-time student, having a cumulative GPA of at least 2.5 and a major GPA of at least 3.1.

This year’s recipients were Brianna Allen, a junior from Rogers, Ark.; and Tanya Lyon, a junior from Oswego, Kan. Ron Petersen, Kolpin-Rubison’s son, was present for the scholarship presentation.

“This endowed scholarship has helped our students since 2004,” said Judy Stiles, KGCS-TV general manager. “We appreciate the generosity of Mrs. Kolpin-Rubison and her foundation in helping these students reach toward their goals at the university.”
