A new memorial fund has been established to the late Dr. Art Saltzman, a longtime member of the English and Philosophy faculty.
Dr. Art Saltzman
Saltzman, who passed away unexpectedly in 2008, taught at Missouri Southern for more than 25 years. He taught a wide range of courses, from freshman writing and creative writing to literature. He received the Outstanding Teacher award in 1992 and a Missouri Governor’s Award for Excellence in Teaching in 2003.
The Saltzman Memorial Fund will be maintained by the Missouri Southern Foundation. Contributions will be designated to purchase books that recognize literary accomplishments in a variety of areas, including ALA Notable Books, National Book Award and Nobel Prize in Literature winners and National Book Awards.
Each book purchased through the fund will include a book plate designating:
