Joplin, MO (SNS) – Two upcoming “Newsmakers” interview programs focus on redevelopment projects underway in the city of Joplin. One looks at the Community Development Block Grant Disaster Recovery funding and the other at plans for the new Joplin Public Library.

The Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program features Joplin City Manager Sam Anselm and Director of Planning, Development and Neighborhood Services Troy Bolander. They discuss the process used to identify eligible projects and rank them as well as provide more details on the projects that ranked high, including infrastructure work, streetscaping and job training programs.

It will air at 9:30 p.m. Monday, July 6, and in the evenings throughout the week of July 12.

The Joplin Public Library interview features Library Director Jacque Gage. She provides details about the new facility being built at 20th Street and Connecticut Avenue in partnership with the Economic Development Administration and the City of Joplin. Groundbreaking on the building is expected in September.

The interview will air for the first time at 9:30 p.m. Sunday, July 5, and in the evenings throughout the week of July 19.

KOAM-TV will air the “Newsmakers” interviews at 5 a.m. Saturday, July 18, and Saturday, July 25. Both programs are also posted on YouTube at
