Kansas City, Mo. — Missouri Southern senior track and field athlete Melanie Bower has been named the MIAA Women’s Track and Field Field Athlete of the Week, the organization announced today.
Bower, a native of Linn, Mo., vaulted to a height of 13-01.75, besting the previous vault record set two weeks ago at this very same venue by freshman Emily Presley. Bower won the event, going three inches higher than second place. The mark ranks fourth in division II and is tops in the MIAA this season. It is also an automatic qualifying mark to NCAA Nationals.
Bower and the Lions will be in action this weekend at both Nebraska and Central Missouri.
