Joplin, MO (SNS) – Three foreign films will be screened next week at Missouri Southern State University as part of the continuing International Film Series and the Tournées Film Festival.

Other campus events include opportunities for students to create stuffed lions and custom dry erase boards, a performance by one of America’s premiere percussion ensembles and a session designed to help businesses boost their online security.

Tuesday, April 12

Gift Card Bingo: 12:20 p.m., Lion’s Den in Billingsly Student Center. Students can play for a chance to win gift cards to fast-food restaurants.

Start with Security: FTC Guide for Business to Prevent Online Fraud: 3 p.m. to 5 p.m., SMB Community Center, Seventh Street and Duquesne Road. Participants will learn about potential vulnerabilities and learn to reduce those risks. Free.

“Innocent Sorcerers”: 7 p.m. in Plaster Hall’s Cornell Auditorium. In this International Film Festival selection, the younger generation deals with undeclared love. The 1960 Polish film was directed by Andrzej Wajda, Poland’s leading postwar director.

Wednesday, April 13

Stuff a Cowboy Lion: 10:30 a.m., Billingsly Student Center. Students can create their own stuffed lion.

“Cave of Forgotten Dreams”: 3 p.m., Phelps Theater in BSC. The French film festival continues with a documentary about the discovery of the prehistoric drawings in the Chauvet- Pont-d’Arc Cave in the south of France. Refreshments will be provided.

Junior Instrumental Recital: 5 p.m., Corley Auditorium in Webster Hall. Trevor Berger (trumpet) and Reetha Haase (clarinet) will perform.

Thursday, April 14

Custom Photo Dry Erase Boards: 10:30 a.m., Lions Den in BSC. Students can create their own customized dry erase boards.

“The Good Dinosaur”: 2:30 and 6:30 p.m., Phelps Theater in BSC. The Wellness Program will provide free snacks and drinks during screenings of the animated film.

Ethos Percussion Ensemble: 7 p.m., Corley Auditorium. Pro Musica will present the performance by the percussion quartet.

Friday, April 15

“A Summer’s Tale”: 3 p.m., Phelps Theater. A recent graduate becomes romantically entangled with three different woman in this French film festival selection.

Southern Jazz Combos: 6 p.m., Gusano’s Pizza, 3929 E. Seventh St. Jazz students will perform a variety of selections during the performance. Free, but reservations are recommended. Call 417-623-9090.

It’s Alex Clark: 7 p.m., Corley Auditorium. Comedy, tricks and improve will be featured in the performance presented by the Campus Activities Board.
