Kansas City, Mo. — Fifty-One Missouri Southern student-athletes were named to the MIAA Academic Honor Roll as the MIAA announced its final academic awards recently. academic books

To earn the award, a student-athlete has to maintain a 3.00 cumulative GPA and be in attendance for two or more semesters at their particular institution. In addition to the Academic Honor Roll awardees, five individuals earned the MIAA Scholar-Athlete Award. This award goes to an individual that maintains a cumulative 3.50 GPA and has been named to an All-MIAA team at one point this year. Nine individuals also were given the MIAA’s Academic Excellence Award for maintaining a perfect 4.00 GPA.

The Academic Honor Roll and Scholar-Athlete awards released today were for individuals that were new to the institution when their particular sport was in season. They are given their awards at the end of the academic year.

Earning Scholar-Athlete Awards for the Lions were Tyler Sutherland (Baseball), Vincent Kiprop (M. Track/XC), Desirea Buerge (W. Basketball/Track), Emily Presley (W. Track), and Sarah Usher (W. Track/XC). Earning the Academic Excellence Award for Southern were Ryan Drendel (M. Track), Angel Badalamenti (Softball), Taurean Guzman (Softball), Rachel Ray (W. Track), Abi Corbett (Softball), Sierra Gray (W. Track), Allie Heckemeyer (W. Track), Christian Provence (W. Track), and Katie Skelton (W. Track).
