The MSSU Chamber Singers have been invited to perform a pre-concert before a performance by vocal ensemble Nordic Voices at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 16, at Central Christian Center, Fifth Street and Virginia Ave.
Nordic Voices was formed in 1996 and features six graduates of the Norwegian Academy of Music and the Norwegian Academy of Opera. Their concerts are a unique blend of sophisticated music and stylish performance, often with a dash of humor.
“We were fortunate to have Pro Musica ask us to perform with Chanticleer in 2016,” said Dr. David Sharlow, director of choral activities at Missouri Southern. “We had such a good response doing the pre-concert that we were invited to do one for Nordic Voices. They’re a fine ensemble.”
The Missouri Southern Chamber Singers is a select, mixed-ensemble singers comprised of mostly music majors and minors, although talented non-music majors have been invited to sing based upon their level of skill and ability. The focus of the group is to explore a variety of music spanning all historical periods, choral genres, and cultural perspectives, with an emphasis on unaccompanied literature.
The concert is free and open to the public, though donations are appreciated.
