Upcoming HR Training sessions aimed a supervisors and managers will cover disability-related information and as well as effective hiring practices.

Knowing When to Hold ‘Em or Walk Away

The Americans with Disabilities Act limits the scope of medical inquiries allowed during the various stages of the employment lifecycle. Recognizing what disability-related information is already knowns and understanding the impact medical documentation may (or may not) have on making reasonable accommodation decisions can determine when it makes sense to ask questions, and when it doesn’t.

Know When To Hold ‘Em: Medical Inquiries & the ADA will be held from 2 to 3 p.m.  Wednesday, March 8, in BSC 341. Supervisors and other managers are encouraged to attend the webinar hosted by the JAN Network and relevant to employment accommodation law.

Hire Better. Perform Better.

Most hiring managers dread having to backfill a position or find new talent to grow their team.  It can be time consuming, frustrating, and costly. However, if managers follow some simple strategies before hiring, they can find the right people more quickly, easily and cost effectively.

How To Be A Better Hiring Manager is a supervisor training that will be held from noon to 1 p.m. Thursday, March 9, in BSC 309. Attendees will learn how to collaborate more effectively to attract top talent, how to ask the right interview questions and get people excited about working for MSSU.

Following the brown bag training, members of the HR team will be on hand to discuss the implementation of Clear Company, Southern’s new applicant tracking system (ATS). Attendees will learn about the new system, participate in an informal Q&A and be invited to sign-up for ATS training slated for mid-March.

Lunch will be provided.  Reservations are required by Tuesday, March 7.  To reserve a seat for this supervisor raining, contact HRtraining@mssu.edu.
