A number of honors were announced during the recent Staff Appreciation and Years of Service Employee Brunch.

The university honored professional and classified staff who reached milestones in their years of service to MSSU. Forty-six staff members – equaling 425 years of combined service – were recognized. Each honoree received a plaque and monetary award.

Also recognized during the event were the 2017 Superior Service Award nominees and Southern’s 2017 awardees, Betsy Wood and Kent Broady.

The Superior Service Award is presented to one Professional Staff and one Classified Staff member each year. Recipients are nominated by their peers and must meet certain criteria including representing and reflecting each of the five pads of the Lion Paw: Respect to Campus Community, Positive Attitude, Pride in Their Work, Exemplary Dependability and Excellence in Customer Service. Each recipient received a plaque and $500 monetary award.

A special presentation was also made during the event to the Missouri Southern Foundation, which is celebrating 50-years of service and support to MSSU. The Foundation is a key supporter of the Years of Service and Superior Service Awards.
